Indy keeps focus on football, not rumored front-office rift

Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay denied that any kind of contention exists between his head coach, Chuck Pagano, and his general manager, Ryan Grigson, according to Stephen Holder of the Indianapolis Star. In his debut game, he lived up to the bombast. Tyrod Taylor completed 14 of 19 passes for 195 yards and one touchdown against no interceptions, and added 41 yards in rushing. He got beat off the line by T.Y. Hilton, but he recovered quickly, ran stride for stride with the Colts’ best wideout, and when Luck slightly underthrew the deep ball, Darby made the play and returned the pick 27 yards.

Last season, the Jets lost 27-25 in New England when a 58-yard field-goal attempt in the final seconds was blocked.

Sunday will be the first road game for rookie offensive linemen David Andrews, Shaq Mason and Tre’ Jackson.

Luck finished the day with a 53.1% completion percentage, amassing 243 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. Luck’s first-half passer rating was 46.3.

“I know as a quarterback, it’s awesome when your run game is rolling”, Luck said. The Bills will have another big test in Week 2 when they host the Patriots, but we are convinced that this team will be postseason-bound in 2015.

“They threw everything but the kitchen sink at us”, Colts coach Chuck Pagano said. Taylor then finished the game behind center. Their offensive line is strong, Chris Ivory and Bilal Powell are a solid 1-2 punch at running back, and wide receivers Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker give the Jets a fairly dynamic pass-catching duo. Last time the Bills played at home, they pressured Aaron Rodgers into the worst performance of his career. That could be one of the reasons why Irsay only offered him a small one-year contract extension, which Pagano turned down and was reportedly insulted by.

“Yeah, it does a bit”, said Luck, when asked Monday if all the Buffalo blitzes impacted the ability to run the ball. Ryan challenged the fans at the start of the week to be as loud as they could be in the opener.

Receivers Andre Johnson and Donte Moncrief were not doing much against the Bills until Hilton went down. “The fans were better than the players and the players were pretty darn good today”.

The Patriots will not be signing Pryor at this time, but wanted to see how far he has come in his first few months at receiver after spending his first four National Football League seasons at quarterback. If you’re moving the ball, getting first downs and gaining yards, that tends to quiet it. When you’re ahead that quiets it too. “It was unbelievable, and I was like, ‘You can sit down anytime soon.’ But I’m like, ‘I forgot this is Buffalo, ‘ and it was awesome…and the introductions, they were standing the entire time, it was just incredible”.

-WR Sammy Watkins was locked down by Colts CB Vontae Davis.

Sammy Watkins was only targeted twice in the game and did not record a catch.

And maybe after seeing Lewis up close this weekend, Ryan won’t have any trouble remembering his name. Ryan said he would have to start pumping more volume into the building during practice to prepare them and called the noise level “awesome”. “This feels great”. Bills rookie running back Karlos Williams lead all rushers with 55 yards are six carries. He took his first carry straight to the end zone for a 26-yard score.
