The lifeless body of Rizwan Ahmad was discovered in the courtyard area of an apartment building on 115th Street near Myrtle Avenue, police said. Police had been investigating whether the baby had fallen, was thrown out of a window or was left on the ground.
He was found unconscious and unresponsive, and an EMS crew pronounced him dead at the scene. “I looked outside and saw it was a baby and I screamed and then called 911”. The baby was found in a blue-and-white onesie. His injuries were severe, police said.
The medical examiner will determine the cause of death, police said.
Ilyayeva is a new mother herself and said she’s disturbed.
According to published reports, however, it appears as if the baby was thrown from a fourth-floor apartment. “Just like a book thrown out the window”, the woman said.
