While the investigation is still underway to determine how the Zika virus infected the person in Palm Beach County, the state has maintained that the active transmission of Zika virus has been confined to a square-mile area in Miami-Dade County. Miami is now witnessing a massive outbreak of the Zika virus caused by local mosquitoes.

Senator Tim Kaine, a Virginia legislator and the running mate of the Democratic candidate, Hillary Clinton, said he would return to Washington to vote on Zika virus.
In an interview with Fox News in April, Mrs. Clinton said, Zika is unsafe, and It’s real, if the government and people of America are serious about it, then there is no need to waste time that isn’t available.
The Centers for Disease Control is sending $3.6 million Indiana’s way so the state’s health department can better monitor the Zika virus in both humans and mosquitoes.
Zika is especially unsafe for pregnant women and those of child-bearing age.
The Harris County Public Health Department confirms it received a positive Zika test result on the infant who was born with birth defects, including microcephaly. That individual had recently traveled to Miami-Dade County, the press release stated.
USA officials said they don’t expect to see a Zika epidemic in the United States similar to what is occurring in Latin America.
Inovio Pharmaceuticals has also started testing a DNA vaccine.
Though other cases of Zika have been reported elsewhere in the US, there are more reported cases in Florida than any other state.
In addition to mosquitoes, the Zika virus can be transmitted through sex. These infections are thought to have occurred because the patients’ partners had traveled to countries where Zika is circulating, the CDC said. There is no vaccine to prevent or medicine to treat Zika virus infection.

Statewide, there were 369 confirmed Zika cases as of Tuesday that don’t involve pregnant women. The Florida Keys Mosquito Control Board would still have to approve it.
