The probes remain separate but coordinated.

The blast is under investigation.
Still, O’Neill, who was sworn in just a day before the blast, said the situation had him anxious. The device, found on West 27th Street, was removed with a robot and taken to an NYPD firing range in the Bronx.
Beck says Los Angeles police are constantly assessing security threat levels in the wake Saturday’s two explosions. Police discovered and defused a second device nearby in the Chelsea district of Manhattan, Sky News reported. NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce explains that officials are continuing to fit all of the pieces together.
What we don’t know: So far, authorities have not made any information public about who might be behind the explosion. The NYPD has recovered useful surveillance from that location and is talking to potential witnesses about seeing a potentially suspicious man carrying a briefcase earlier in the evening.
However, her Republican rival Donald Trump was more forthright, saying: ‘We better get very, very tough.
What we know: At his press conference late Saturday night, de Blasio ruled out the possibility of a terrorist group being associated with the explosion.
The bombing occurred as the city prepared to welcome leaders from around the globe, at the opening of the United Nations general assembly on Monday.
The “exact nature and cause of this explosion has not yet been determined”, O’Neill says. He says one person’s injuries were serious and the rest were minor.
The injured were treated and released from area hospitals by Sunday morning, the New York Daily News reported.
While acknowledging that there is no “immediate threat” to New York, Cuomo, speaking to reporters earlier on Sunday said that “on the side of caution, we will be deploying close to 1,000 state police and National Guard people to police the bus terminals, airports, and subway stations”. NJ Gov. Chris Christie has stated that Chelsea event and the New Jersey pipe bombing weren’t connected, and he distanced his state’s incident from the Minnesota mall stabbing as well, but there have been hints on live CNN broadcasts that a connection may arise.
“There is no evidence at this point of a terror connection”, he said, though he added it was “an intentional act”.
The stabbings in St. Cloud, Minnesota, however, were all conducted in what has been labeled by the Federal Bureau of Investigation as “a potential act of terrorism”.
“Whoever placed these bombs, we will find them and they will be brought to justice”, he said.
Officials said they were not aware of any link at this stage between the blast in NY and the one in New Jersey, though this was being investigated.
The “possible secondary device” was found at 27th Street between Sixth and Seventh Avenues, the New York Police Department said on Twitter shortly after 11 p.m. ET. Tannerite is a binary explosive that can be bought in kits and available for private use with little regulation.
An investigation has been launched to determine the motive and suspect behind the explosion as well as the second, undetonated device. “We’re not going to let them win”.
“They want to instil terror”.

“Be vigilant because the police need your help and if you see anything that might be pertinent to this case, we need you to call it in”, he said. “[The explosion] anxious them, for sure, but they also said it was not going to change anything they were going to do today”.
