While the team is listing the guard as “day-to-day” as he recovers from a left hamstring strain, the New York Daily News reports Afflalo told the media Sunday he might be out two weeks.

Arron Afflalo could be sidelined for two weeks with a hamstring injury. Given that the Knicks don’t want Afflalo’s injury to develop into a season-long issue, expect the team to exercise a few precaution in the early going.
The New York Knicks are a popular sleeper pick this season to sneak into the playoffs in the Eastern Conference (they even have Charles Barkley thinking they will make it, ) but obviously health is a huge factor.
The Knicks’ starting five will be Jose Calderon, Vujacic, Carmelo Anthony, rookie Kristaps Porzingis and Robin Lopez.
Coach Direk Fisher was still optimistic of Afflalo’s performance despite the playmaker missing most of the preseason boot camp along with his unfinished Thursday game with the Celtics.
Arron Afflalo (hamstring) will not play against the Bucks on Wednesday and Sasha Vujacic will start in his place.
With Afflalo out the Knicks will be leaning heavily on their superstar Anthony and other players will have to step up to be the second and third scoring option. If there’s a strain, it takes the right amount of time to heal. “To be honest, if it’s lingering, then I’d rather him sit out”, Anthony said.
“We’re still trying to get his conditioning up”.
“He’s a guy who can play multiple spots on the court, just having him play at the top of the offense. He’s annoying to other teams, so why not put him out there?” If we need to post him up, he can post. Langston Galloway is another option at shooting guard and he is probably the best bet to be able to score for the Knicks as he showed he could do it last season. “If we need him to bring the ball up, he can bring the ball up”, Anthony said.

“All of those guys will have an opportunity if Arron is limited or can’t go”, said Fisher, who indicated he still will discuss with his staff whom to start if Afflalo is out.
