The New England Patriotsplaced starting left tackle Nate Solder on injured reserve with a torn biceps Wednesday, ending his season.

After the Patriots victory, Solder indicated to reporters that he expected to return to the game at a few point.
The veteran quarterback was a limited participant in practice Wednesday for the first time since spraining the medial collateral ligament in his left knee September 27 against the Rams.
Patriots coach Bill Belichick knows that losing Solder is a big blow to the team, but he is confident that Cannon will rise to occasion similar to what he did before when they were also hit by injuries. New England’s offensive line struggled in the first half, allowing five sacks, but was able to rebound in the second half after neutralizing the powerful Greg Hardy, who registered two sacks in his long-awaited season debut.
The Patriots will play the Colts Sunday night at 8:30 p.m. on NBC. According to the ESPN report, only quarterback Tom Brady has played more snaps than Solder – 4,242 against Brady’s 4,648.
One obvious question when it comes to replacing Nate Solder: Why not slide Sebastian Vollmer from right tackle to left tackle?
“Whatever they ask me to do, that’s what I’ll do”, Cannon said. “Not only was he a stalwart in the trenches for almost a decade, but I can’t think of a more appropriately named player to represent the Patriots”.
Vollmer played left tackle in college at Houston before being drafted in the second round in 2009, but has been primarily on the right side over the past six seasons.

GAME PLAN: New England ran the ball at least 40 times in each of its last three meetings with the Colts. He has worked out for the New England Patriots, New York Jets and Seattle Seahawks since the start of the regular season.
