Injuries hitting Bears hard on offense and defense
Another major cog in the Bears offense also had the night off.

“Quizz was a big part of what we were doing early previous year and then he got injured”, coach John Fox said Sunday following practice at Halas Hall.
Jeremy Langford was spotted with a walking boot on his left foot at Saturday’s practice.
Meantime, Fox revealed that Pro Bowl right guard Kyle Long is dealing with a shoulder injury, and that wide receiver/return man Deonte Thompson is out with an ankle problem.
Other Bears held out on Saturday night were linebackers Danny Trevathan and Nick Kwiatkoski, cornerbacks Bryce Callahan, Jacoby Glenn, Kyle Fuller and De’Vante Bausby.
Veterans Jacquizz Rodgers and Ka’Deem Carey and rookie Jordan Howard follow Langford on the Bears’ preseason depth chart. Looking to fill the shoes of long-time Bears work-horse back, Matt Forte, he will need to improve on his run-blocking and pass-catching abilities in order to completely fill the void.
The Bears went 1-7 at Soldier Field last season, but five of the losses were by six points or fewer. While the boot is concerning, it is possible the Bears are simply being proactive with a minor issue. The team gets a well needed day off before returning to practice on Tuesday.

The Bears’ spate of injuries has led to more opportunities for young players since training camp has opened. Jay Cutler pulled the center away, clearly thinking of the kids in Gurnee. Updates to come from this week’s practices leading up to preseason game No. 3.
