Injury and fixture worries pile up for Manuel Pellegrini

Pellegrini has warned that his side can not afford to drop points at Tottenham on a key weekend when Leicester also travel to third-placed Arsenal.

Manchester City defender Pablo Zabaleta suspects there will be changes when new manager Pep Guardiola arrives during the close season but said the players are completely focussed on challenging for titles in the current campaign.

Leicester manager Ranieri, whose even-tempered approach has been one of the highlights of his team’s unexpected success story, made light of their new and unfamiliar position.

“I don’t think the manager coming in [Guardiola] makes them a shoe in for the league”, he told Soccer Saturday.

“I won’t hail him anymore because we already know his importance to the team”.

City had wanted the fifth-round match against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge played on the Saturday as this would have given each club four days either side of the tie, regarding their respective Champions League matches. But we’re alive and we want to fight. Pellegrini said that while he loved City, it was a job and one which he knew had to end.

Asked if Guardiola could bring in stars like Messi, Vassell said: “Yes, I think so”.

“I can do things simultaneously”.

The owners of Manchester City have agreed to provide a whopping a £150m warchest in the summer as the team is rumoured to be interested in Juventus’ irrepressible central midfielder Paul Pogba as well. We are not in our best moment, we just have 14 players fit and we have played a lot of games. “I hope we concentrate as well as in these last matches to continue our dream”.

“So if we have to play on the Sunday, we will have to see which players will have to play”.

The 34-year-old goalkeeper signed 18-month deal with Manchester United with the option to extend it for a further year in January 2015, having been recovering from a serious knee injury at the club training ground.

He said, “If Leicester continue playing the way they are [favourites]”.

“After that, we defended very badly – especially from set-pieces, where we conceded two goals”.

“Pressure, it could be a problem, but it is important we stay calm…” “It does not matter what we say”.
