Injury Ends Red Cadeaux Career
Shattered high profile Hong Kong owner Ronald Arculli is awaiting the results of emergency surgery for his globetrotting stayer Red Cadeaux after a fetlock injury saw the nine-year-old fail to finish the Melbourne Cup.

English trainer Ed Dunlop feared Red Cadeaux would have to be put down after he suffered a leg fracture.
A three-time runner-up in the race, the Ed Dunlop-trained globetrotter was competing in the Flemington feature for the fifth time and required attention on course before being taken for further assessment.
“We’ve discussed three or four times we were going to retire him and we haven’t retired him”.
Veterinarians have stabilised the horse’s left foreleg and he is now at the University of Melbourne’s Werribee Veterinary Clinic, Racing Victoria’s head of equine welfare and veterinary services, Brian Stewart, said in a statement.
Dunlop confirmed the retirement of Britain’s leading prize-money earner and a further update on his condition will be provided on Wednesday.
“He’s in great hands, and we’re seeking a lot of advice and we will do whatever is best for the horse”. Obviously he’s immediately retired.

Global recruiting scout Leigh Jordan said that Red Cadeaux would remain in Australia for the next few days. “It’s a bad injury, but it should be repairable”.
