Injustice 2 Gameplay Reveal Set for Saturday

Destiny occupied an odd space of being released across both last- and current-generation consoles, and developer Bungie will start treating the versions compatible with older hardware as “legacy” releases.

Players will be able to “customise and level-up their favourite DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains”, said Ed Boon, Creative Director at Mortal Kombat studio NetherRealm, as part of the game’s announcement. Quick as a Flash, Warner Bros. However, gamers will be able to get their first glimpse of gameplay for Injustice 2 this weekend. An exact release date has not been announced, but NetherRealm has a thing for April releases, likely due to fiscal planning and a desire to get its games in the hands of pro players ahead of the annual EVO summer tournament.

Injustice 2 offers the latest DC fighting game experience that expands on the previous title’s larger-than-life showdowns. For the first time gamers can take control of how their characters look, fight and develop across a variety of game modes. Armor builds up as characters wallop each other, ostensibly adding to their defense or letting them unleash a powerful attack. In an alternate reality, the game is set in a world where Superman squares off against Batman and his allies.

Not only do fans get a brand new fighting system, Injustice 2 will bring new characters into the roster, including Supergirl, Gorilla Grodd and Atrocitus of the Red Lanterns.
