Innocent pleas entered for 4 Notre Dame players, Redfield
The jersey will be awarded each game week to the player “who exemplifies himself both on and off the field in a manner that represents all the things we want a Notre Dame football player to represent”, Kelly said.

Strong has already told the team who the starter is, but hasn’t told the media and won’t until the player strolls out on the field for the first offensive play of the game.
“We really didn’t have anybody that forced the tempo to the point where it really needed to be used in its full force”, Kelly said. Its not something that weve contemplated, he said. “It’s not something that we’ve contemplated”, said Kelly, who added that reps would be divided “more by feel” than any pre-arranged plan.
The comfort level of the quarterback and his rhythm is something that is always an issue with them. “I totally agree with [high expectations], and that’s what we’re working for”. Kelly didn’t start that initiative because of Bryant, but for Folston or Zaire or Hunter or plenty of others, earning that No. 1 jersey would be a way for them to honor their friend. “That probably doesn’t work best for him”.
Neither Kizer nor Zaire has hidden his displeasure with their coach’s decision. Both quarterbacks will play against the Longhorns and the duo could appear in tandem all season long. Junior D’Onta Foreman and sophomore Chris Warren are known as the Smash Brothers because they both weigh in around 250 pounds and can explode at any time. But he said they will make the most of their chances when the game starts.
Needless to say, it’s arguably Texas’ biggest home game since the Ohio State Buckeyes came to town in 2006.
“If they both play dynamically and feed off each other, my ideal situation would be I’m playing them both because they’re both playmakers”, he said.
Joe Tessitore, who will call the game Sunday night on ND going with two QBs. “But we’re going to give it a shot”.
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish will share the spotlight with the Texas Longhorns Sunday night.
Running back Dexter Williams, linebacker Te’von Coney, receiver Kevin Stepherson and cornerback Ashton White were charged with misdemeanors after their arrests for possession of marijuana during the August 19 traffic stop in Fulton County, Ind.
Per coach Brian Kelly, four of the six players arrested in two separate incidents on the weekend of August 19 will play against Texas.
Instead of enacting any discipline himself, Kelly will defer to the school’s Office of Community Standards when it comes to any disciplinary action being taken here.
For Texas, it could be a program-defining game for Charlie Strong.
“We think that’s appropriate”.
“That was my brother in arms and we did what we did best, and that was to move the football”, Zaire said last month.
Starting safety Max Redfield was also charged with possession of marijuana in connection with the arrests.
10 Notre Dame is opening its season with a true road game for the first time in 10 years (2006) when the Irish commenced their season with a 14-10 win at Georgia Tech.
“That’s what caused the dismissal”.
Asked for comment outside court, Redfield said: “I wish the best to them”.
The only real mystery partially solved, maybe, was the current playing status of the four Irish players who have been formally charged with misdemeanors stemming from their August 19 arrest following a traffic stop.

Coney and Stepherson pleaded not guilty to the misdemeanors, while White’s and Williams’ attorneys chose to waive initial hearings.
