Inquiry ordered over Sindh police ads against Rangers
Karachi Mushtaq Mehar has ordered an inquiry into controversial advertisements in Tuesday’s local newspapers apparently by police seeking masses support to identify Rangers officials allegedly behind kidnapping of six missing citizens, Geo TV reported on Wednesday.

DG Rangers, home minister, information minister and additional IG were also present in the meeting.
He said cases were lodged against the Pakistan Rangers Sindh upon court orders. “Terrorists will benefit if there’s lack of unity among the Sindh government, police and Rangers”, he added. “By doing so, the DSP Orangi concerned undermined the investigation”, he believed.
He said the provincial government has nothing to do with this.
He said that Superintendent of Police (SP) and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) have also been suspended.
The advertisement which sought assistance in tracing the detained persons was published by DSP Orangi Fakhrul Islam of the Sindh Police.
Karachi-West SSP Azfar Mahesar told Dawn that the FIRs of “missing” persons were not registered against the Rangers.
Moreover, the minister has set up an investigation committee under DIG CTD Sanaullah Abbassi to probe into the matter and report within three days. “The objective is mainly to affect the Karachi operation”, said the spokesman.

Mr Khuhro said all the departments ought to review contents of advertisements critically before sending it to the information department for publication.
