FAR North Queensland’s legion of Star Wars buffs are gearing up for the long-awaited premiere of The Force Awakens, with hordes of fans set to descend on midnight screenings around Cairns tonight.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is one of the most highly-anticipated films of the year and fans have remained cautiously optimistic about Episode VII of the series directed by JJ Abrams. Even past “Star Wars” actors not involved in this iteration, like Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian) and Bonnie Piesse (Aunt Beru in the prequels) graced the scene. And I would be lying if I wasn’t silently agreeing: “me too, kid, me too”. In the clip below, what I found most interesting is that she didn’t know what she was auditioning for. “That is the droid I’m looking for and do you accept Visa?”

Disney triple-sized the premiere by closing and tenting Hollywood Boulevard and reserving three theaters, instead of just one, to accommodate guests for the world premiere.
