Inspired David Ospina justifies his Champions League selection for Arsenal

Arsene Wenger opted to start the Colombian global instead of Petr Cech, as he picked up from where he left off last season in rotating the pair between the posts.

“We started this game with the goal in the first minute but we tried to keep going and keep playing our game”, he said. If they do not play, you can’t keep two world-class goalkeepers.

It couldn’t help that Petr Cech, their first-choice keeper and a guy who happens to be one of the best in the world at organizing a defense, was sitting on the bench.

Although Cech is expected to come back into the team for the Premier League trip to Hull on Saturday, Ospina is prepared for any opportunity he gets to play. And that’s why it’s important to have clear roles when the season starts and when that changes I inform them. We knew we could cause them problems after the first half, and we proved it in the second with Alexis Sanchez’s goal.

“I trust my players to show that we are a great team”. “It’s down to performances and on what he has delivered tonight he has the right to claim to play in the next Champions League game”.

The former Napoli striker went onto miss several chances including an open goal.

“We were in trouble in the first half, they pressed well, were fast on the counterattack, were determined and played aggressively”, Wenger said.

“We also benefited from the fact PSG were not as good in the second half”. Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below!

This is something he can not afford to do should he be handed another opportunity before Arsenal’s clash with Basel on September 28.

“We pushed very high and were vulnerable to the counter-attack but overall it is a good point”.

The Colombian then kept out Di Maria and his efforts were not in vain as Arsenal drew level when Sanchez thumped home after Areola made a great reaction stop to keep out Alex Iwobi.

That goal ensured a share of the points, although both teams had chances to win, with Ospina again thwarting Cavani before Areola denied Iwobi at the other end.
