Next up for Instagram is the even more significant 500 million user mark. Instagram added that amount of users in roughly nine months.
Few notable additions to the Instagram community among the last 100 million includes David Beckham from the United Kingdom, Caitlyn Jenner from the USA and the German soccer player Toni Kroos. Inspiring moments are also highlighted in the company’s blogpost. The traffic on Instagram is huge reaching over 80 million pics and videos daily. Following that move, eMarketer released a forecast expecting Instagram ad sales to grow by a factor of five over the next two years to $2.81 billion. Pinterest is also the home for many users uploading photos, though these tend to be less personal. The blog post further revealed that more than 75 percent of its user base resides outside of the US. The countries which have contributed the maximum number of members are Japan, Indonesia and Brazil. It has hit the 400 million monthly active users mark and this is much more than Twitter, which has little more than three million active users a month.
“Now, we continue to strive to improve Instagram? helping you experience the world through images and connect with others through shared passions”, the post added. Back in 2012, the leading social networking site acquired the picture-sharing service for $1 billion in cash and stock.
