Instagram Is Making a Big Change to Videos
Going forward, Instagram videos will show a view count instead of likes.

As Instagram moves from just photos to even more multimedia, it’s in its best interest to provide the analytics that incentivize content generation and quality.
Instagram announced that it’s now testing video view counts, which it expects to roll out to all users over the coming weeks.
Lately, there has been an increase in the app’s plans to shift marketers toward the app, hoping to sway them from TV to mobile. The company also recently created an ad-friendly option to extend Boomerang videos from 30 seconds to 60 seconds. Facebook, on one hand, claims 8 billion video views, with each view being, at least, three seconds while Snapchat’s 7 billion views are counted at a millisecond.
Kevin Del Rosario, associate director of social at Huge, said that Instagram’s scrolling newsfeed (and the three-second rule) could make Instagram videos more valuable than Vine clips. “That’s why you’ll begin to see view counts underneath videos where before you’d normally see likes”.
