Instagram Launches ‘Stories’, Insta CEO Admits Snapchat Deserves All The Credit
The app, which is backed by Facebook says that you’ll be able to share multiple photos and videos as ‘your story’ and that these will appear together in a slideshow format.

Users will see stories from people you follow in a bar at the top of their feed. One thing’s for sure: whether you personally upload stories to Instagram or not, you’ll probably get more insight on your friends’ daily activities – for better or worse. Once you have your image or video, you can add text to the image or use one of the drawing tools, which include nine colors and a slider for different sizes in addition to a “glow” marker. The photos and videos disappear after 24 hours and don’t appear in profile grids or feeds.
The move by Facebook-owned Instagram seems to be an attempt to take on Snapchat, which launched an nearly exactly same service – also called Stories – in 2014, which it has since expanded to include other features.
Stories will match the user’s privacy settings, and users can choose to keep a Story private or share it with a wider audience.
In an official blog, Instagram said that using Stories, users “don’t have to worry about overposting”.
An update for the app will roll out for iOS and Android users in the coming weeks.
But as Techcrunch pointed out, there are some differences between Instagram Stories and Snapchat.
The Snapchat-like feature also lets people playfully drawn on or add text to images, which are presented in a slide-show style once posted. However, the Facebook-owned company gave the due credit to the pioneer of “Stories”.
Stories is a smart way to boost engagement on Instagram, which has crossed 500 million monthly active users.
So basically what you do is access your “story” at the top of the Instagram app by tapping a plus icon within a ring.
The social network began letting some accounts that attract torrents of feedback filter those comments by keywords or even turn off the option to comment on particular posts.

Even more of an update, Facebook is caking their new feature, “stories” too.
