Instagram Takes Lesson From Snapchat With New ‘Stories’
However, social media blew up with various reactions to the change. “To reduce confusion Stories focuses on obvious, labeled buttons instead of swipes and offers information on where you are exactly in the app right now”, Owen Williams writes on Next Web, explaining why Instagram’s Stories has the potential to disrupt Snapchat. Moreover, they aren’t features on the user’s profile grid or feed.

In a bid to compete, Instagram launched a new feature today – Stories – which will make the photos and videos disappear automatically after 24 hours.
If you are not already conversant with Stories from your use of Snapchat, here is a little more information on how Instagram’s model works, since it is a feature you will actually enjoy.
“Instagram has always been a place to share the moments you want to remember”. In an interview with US-based tech website TechCrunch, Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom admitted that the idea of Stories was copied from its competitor and said that they “deserved all the credit”.
Not only that, but Instagram stories has amalgamated the features that people might move between apps – the best of both worlds.
The Facebook-owned company said that users “don’t have to worry about overposting”.
The photo-editing tools are also fairly limited – allowing users to add filters and frames to their pictures, but not a lot else.
Instagram copying Snapchat’s “Stories” feature is a smart attempt to make its rival less unique and Facebook didn’t even give it a different name, androidauthority.com reported on Wednesday. When they add a new story, there will be a colorful ring around their profile photo.
If your account is private, then of course only your friends will be able to see your story. A certain part of the story can be set to be featured on the user’s profile.
Users simply need to tap on a profile photo in order to view a story, and they can tap to go back and forward.
This features Instagram Stories will rolling out globally for the iOS and the Android platforms in the coming few weeks.
