“This is first time that I can remember a candidate for president doing a readout from an intelligence briefing, and it’s the first time a candidate has politicized their intelligence briefing”. Intelligence officers do not make policy recommendations. “I was very, very surprised in nearly every instance”.
Tim Kaine received his first classified intelligence briefing as the Democratic vice presidential nominee in NY on Thursday, according to a senior USA intelligence official and two sources in the Clinton campaign, who all agreed to discuss the briefing on the condition of anonymity.
‘It’s concerning that Donald Trump was potentially sharing information that he learned in his briefing, ‘ he told ABC’s Good Morning America. Still, while Trump didn’t divulge much about the meeting’s contents, he did say that he “could tell they were not happy” with the way President Obama has utilized their intelligence.
“They would say the intelligence professionals, as they should, they would say those are policy decisions”, Flynn continued.
In Kaine’s case, the Virginia senator – who is also a member of the Senate Foreign Relations and Senate Armed Services Committees – may only get one such intelligence briefing before the November election, NBC News reported.
The Clinton campaign – whose candidate was perceived as having performed poorly at the NBC forum – claimed on Thursday morning that what Trump said was close to sharing the secrets he had learned.
With Trump under fire for his readout of the briefing, Clinton piled on, calling his remarks “totally inappropriate and undisciplined” when asked about them during a press conference at the Westchester airport in White Plains, New York.
“Trump and Christie listened politely but Flynn repeatedly interrupted the briefers and disparaged their work, according to former officials familiar with the matter”, the Post reports.

Trump’s briefing, which was led by staffers from the office of the director of national intelligence and likely included information on threats and emerging concerns from around the globe, made news Wednesday night after the mogul himself referenced it during a nationally televised candidate forum.
