Intel raises Q3 revenue forecast as PC market improves
The company expects revenue to be $15.6 billion, – plus or minus $300 million – compared with a prior estimate of $14.9 billion. There will always be people that will need a PC plus there are more people coming into the PC gaming world each year.

Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) revised its revenue guidance for 3Q. “I think what they are probably seeing is a lot of shifting from more entry-level processors to more premium processors”, Mr. Baker said.
Falcon’s PCs use Intel microprocessors.
“We expect PC units to decline less than the high-single-digit decline consensus in 2017, driven by continued Windows 10 upgrades and accelerating SSD adoption, along with new form factors”, Baird Equity Research analyst Tristan Gerra wrote, raising his price target to US$42 (RM173.50) from US$40 (RM165.23).
Mr. Baker of NPD agreed that Nvidia technology, rather than Intel’s latest microprocessors, is likely spurring consumer purchases. At the same time, analysts have said that OEMs had done little in terms of designs and features to entice users to buy new systems.
HP Inc, which houses the hardware business of the former Hewlett-Packard Co, said last month that revenue in its computer business rose 7.5% in the third quarter from the second as sales of notebooks improved.
Brian Krzanich, Intel’s chief executive since 2013, has tried to push the company into markets beyond PCs such as connected cars, wearable devices and devices used to handle retail transactions. Overall, the new numbers seem to pave the way for the release of Intel’s Kaby Lake processors, commonly known as 7th Generation Core processors.
All other expectations have been withdrawn and guidance will be updated with the company’s third-quarter earnings report on October 18.
