Numerous Palestinian attacks on Israelis are now occurring in the West Bank, rather than in Jerusalem where they started.

Israeli forces yesterday shot dead a Palestinian assailant who the army said had stabbed and wounded a soldier at an intersection near the town of Hebron.

“The Cameras will document everything, including those who want to assault Palestinians or Israelis”, said Adnan Abu Odeh, an advisor to Jordan’s current and past kings. Many of those carrying out attacks have been teenagers.

Palestinian women in Jerusalem are under constant attack by both Israeli state forces and at the hands of vigilantes, a coalition of groups stated Saturday.

At the security cabinet meeting, Mr Netanyahu complained of lawlessness in Palestinian neighbourhoods in East Jerusalem’s outlying areas, where sporadic Israeli raids to arrest suspected militants are usually met with violent protests.

The Palestinian Health Ministry says at least 64 Palestinians have lost their lives since the beginning of the month.

The announcement, entitled “A commitment by United Kingdom scholars to the rights of Palestinians”, was printed as a full-page advertisement in The Guardian newspaper.

Israel has pledged to abide by the long-standing arrangement at the site in Jerusalem’s walled Old City. Any move to change the status of the city’s Palestinians would threaten unleashing new unrest and draw worldwide condemnations.

Muslims accuse Israel of seeking to change rules governing the site and to allow Jews to pray there.

Increasing numbers of religious Jews visiting the compound – which is Islam’s holiest site outside Saudi Arabia and revered in Judaism as the location of two destroyed biblical temples – have led to Palestinian allegations that Israel is violating a “status quo” under which Jewish prayer there is banned. He was shot dead by Israeli border police on October 17, in the nearby Jewish settlement of Armon Hanatziv.

His son Micah Avni Lakin said he had been a big fan of social media, where young Palestinians have incited attacks, uploading videos and sharing the hashtag #Jerusalemintifada.

The comments come as the United Nations also warned on Wednesday that the deadly Israeli aggression against Palestinians is headed toward “catastrophe”.

Palestinians are angry over what they see as excessive use of force by Israeli police and soldiers.

Mr Netanyahu said the visit by Basel Ghattas, a Christian lawmaker with the Arab-Jewish Joint List faction, was a “provocation” that could only further “inflame the situation”.
