Internet goes wild for Hal Robson-Kanu’s goal against Belgium

Asked after the full time whistle if Belgium needed a new coach after the already under-fire Wilmots failed to turn the match around, Courtois told Rtbf: “This was an opportunity we may not get again. Everybody fails. I have had more failures than I’ve had success”.

The team, which started the tournament as 1,000-1 outsiders, now plays Cristiano Ronaldo-inspired Portugal in Lyon on Wednesday for a place in next weekend’s showpiece final in Paris.

The player was non-committal over his future when he spoke to the press on Sunday, three days before Wales face Portugal in their semi-final clash.

Friday’s ruthless 3-1 victory over a heavily-fancied Belgium team propelled Wales into the last four of Euro 2016, capping a dramatic return to the main global main stage after 58 years of missing out on a big tournamemt.

Wales fans have continued celebrating their side’s shock win over Belgium – with scenes of pure ecstasy in Lille and around Wales.

“As a group of lads, we’re just proud that we’ve done the nation proud”, he said.

Giggs, capped 64 times by Wales, is the most decorated player in United’s illustrious history and he amassed a record 963 appearances and 35 major trophies before going on to serve as an assistant to former managers David Moyes and Louis van Gaal.

His early goal against Russian Federation set Wales up for a 3-0 win and top spot in Group B, and his four assists, including two against Belgium, are tied for most at Euro 2016 with Eden Hazard.

After 25 minutes on Friday, the dream seemed far away against a fast-starting Belgium side that was playing nearly a home game just 10 kilometers from its border.

“It’s something we’ve worked so hard for in six, seven, eight years, being ranked where we were to where we are now, it’s a credit to everybody involved and long may it continue”.

“We were outclassed on all fronts”, Courtois said following the loss.

“Perhaps we were looking one v one and we were dropping too deep, fearing the space in behind and that’s where you need a lot of character”. All we can do is never forget what it has taken to be in this position.

On his superb goal, Robson-Kanu – who is without a club after being released by Championship side Reading – added: “I presume they thought I would lay it off – and I have Cruyffed and put it in the net”.

“We’re just enjoying being here, we’re enjoying the ride”.

“We were determined to do it tonight”.
