Speaking at Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Awards, Aamir had said, “I have been alarmed”.
Mumbai: Actor Aamir Khan is grabbing all attention today with his debate on intolerance in the country, he said that all the people who killed innocents in the name of Islam are not Muslims.
At the press conference on his birthday, Shahrukh Khan mentioned that India is becoming an intolerant country.
On artists returning their awards in protest against “rising intolerance”, Rahman said, “Everything should be done classily”. My suggestion is that the situation in India is better than any other country. “That indicates there is a sense of growing disquiet, despondency apart from alarm”.
“Dear @aamir_khan. When did “Incredible India” become ‘Intolerant India” for you?
Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi tweeted that the government would do better by listening to voices of discontent rather than branding them “unpatriotic” and “anti-national”.
His wife had wondered if they should leave India, the actor said and supported those returning their awards by saying this was one of the ways for the creative people to express their dissatisfaction.
Hundreds of activists of the Hindu Sena on Tuesday staged a vociferous demonstration outside the home of Bollywood megastar Aamir Khan protesting against his statements on intolerance. Those opposed to his point of view say that it is a star’s responsibility to not spread fear and paranoia among the masses.
Anupam Kher posed a number of questions to Khan on Twitter, and asked him to remember that “this country has made you Aamir Khan”. For the first time, she said, should we move out of India…She fears for her child, she fears about what the atmosphere around us will be.

Shall see where Aamir finally lands for his comments. “Did you tell her that this country has made you AAMIR KHAN”, Kher tweeted in response to Khan’s comments that his wife Kiran Rao had spoken about whether they should move out of the country.
