Introducing The 2016 BMW M4 GTS
Described by the firm as an “exclusive technological showpiece, which elevates the potential of the BMW M4 Coupe to another impressive new levels”, the M4 GTS produces a mighty 493bhp. Although official pricing has yet to be announced, there are speculations that the vehicle will cost £121,770 or $186,463 in the United Kingdom – more than twice the price of a standard M4 Coupe.

What’s different about the chassis and suspension for the new BMW M4 GTS?
MW M GmbH is launching the BMW M4 GTS in a special edition limited to 700 units to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the BMW M3, which has been in production since 1986.
“Australia is a very high-performance oriented market”, Fletcher said. For all that it’s a less extreme and stripped back auto than the old GTS for sure, maintaining much of the configurability and gadget count of the standard M4. Or to put it in another perspective, the M4 GTS recorded a Nürburgring Nordschleife lap time of 7 min 28 sec, which is 30 sec less than the regular version. The water injection system raises the engine’s output significantly to 500 horsepower, and allows it to reach 0-60 in a mere 3.8 seconds, alongside a capped top speed of almost 190 miles per hour. The instrument panel bracing tube is made from lightweight carbon fibre. Apart from that, the rear seats are also removed with the center consoles and door panels are made lighter than ever before.
Somehow the M4 GTS has a claimed fuel economy figure of 34mpg and Carbon dioxide emissions of 199g/km so it could be cheap to run for anyone boring enough to drive it slowly. The main additions are added safety features like a roll bar in Acid Orange behind the front seats, a race-specification six-point harness and a fire extinguisher.
BMW has used carbon fibre reinforced plastic for the bonnet, roof and front splitter to further reduce weight, improve axle load distribution and lower the centre of gravity. The adjustable rear wing, too, is cut from this light but extremely durable high-tech material. Unmissable at the rear is the spoiler attached to the boot lid by two aluminium struts. The M steering wheel comes with gear shift paddles for manual control.
Multi-spoke alloy wheels are slightly larger at the rear (20-inch with 285mm Michelin Pilot Cup Sport 2 rubber) than the front (19-inch with 265mm tyres of the same variety). Carbon fibre brakes are standard. The M4 GTS is focused on track use, but meets all global regulations for use on public roads. The L-shaped flat design measures just 1.4mm in height, and can trigger individual light modules separately.
The GTS is over 200 pounds lighter than the M4 on which it is based thanks to a long list of weight-saving components.
