New Jersey State Police have identified the body that washed up on a Strathmere beach as that of former Clayton mayor Jeff Radio.
The cause of Radio’s death was under investigation last night, pending an autopsy at Shore Memorial Hospital in Somers Point, according to Sgt. Jeff Flynn, a police spokesman.
However, NBC-10 reported that foul play isn’t suspected in the case.
The body has not been identified as of Tuesday evening.
An outpouring of support for Radio’s family on his personal Facebook page continued Thursday morning. “I know that everyone who knew loved him and will miss him”. My life will never be the same. “He was my soul mate”.
The last time Radio personally checked in on Facebook was on Friday, from Johnny Rocket’s in Atlantic City. According to the newspaper, Radio served as mayor from 2009-2012.

“We put our flags at half mast in honor of Mayor Radio and I believe a couple municipalities in Gloucester County also are doing the same thing”, Bianco told KYW Newsradio. Mayor Tom Bianco succeeded Radio in 2012.
