IOC sanctions six sportspeople for failing dope tests at Beijing Games
Cuban discus thrower Yarelys Barrios has been stripped of her Beijing 2008 silver medal for retrospectively failing a drugs test at the Games following re-analysis of samples conducted by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). He tested positive for stanozolol and turinabol.

The IOC on Thursday said in a statement that reanalysis of Barrios’ samples from the Beijing Olympics resulted in a positive test for the prohibited substance acetazolamide (diuretic and masking agent).
Eight years later, more athletes continue to be stripped of medals from the BeijingOlympics because of positive doping tests.
Several Azerbaijani, Ukrainian and Kazakh wrestlers will lose the Olympic medals they won at Beijing 2008 and London 2012 after testing positive for doping, Haqqin.az reports. Jamaica is in line to move up from third to silver and Belarus from fourth to bronze in the 4×400 relay.
Weightlifting has a sorry history when it comes to doping with 5 athletes excluded from the Rio 2016 Games earlier this month due to positive tests.
Russian Federation had already lost their 2008 4x400m relay silver. She tested positive for stanozolol and turinabol.
Francis tested positive for the banned substance stanozolol, the International Olympic Committee said.
Also losing a bronze medal is Armenian weightlifter Tigran Martirosyan.

Two more weightlifters who did not finished in the top three, Alexandru Dudoglu of Moldova and Intigam Zairov of Azerbaijan, completed the group of six.
