IOS App of the Week: raging Birds 2

Basically its all about tossing birds at pigs and watching them go “pop” like a balloon.

A neat addition to raging Birds 2 is magic spells.

Rovio has said that gamers should expect the best gaming experiences to live on newer iPhones, iPads and Android devices. This time around, the company has graciously embraced the freemium model, which means that you can download the title right now on your iOS or Android device without tossing in a single penny (read: free). Due to sinking profits, the CEO of Rovio stepped down from his position last year, and this is despite continued releases of mad Birds titles through various spinoffs and licensing deals with popular franchises, including Transformers and Star Wars. In many ways, mad Birds 2 does that.

Well raging birds has been able to come up with another version of itself, the mad Birds 2. As far as core gameplay is concerned, not a whole lot, as you’re still flinging birds at pigs, but there’s been a whole lot of other stuff that’s been changed, tweaked, reworked, or otherwise improved.

Players can either wait 30 minutes for their “lives” to regenerate, or they can buy more using gems earned during gameplay or bought with real-world cash.

Mad Birds 2 is available on the Apple App Store for free.

As such, it relies on some monetization tactics that other successful games have honed to a fine art in the time since the original raging Birds first took flight.

You can also add lives by sitting through adverts at intervals. It’s a little frustrating that you can only compete once every 12 hours, but bragging rights are enough incentive to keep players coming back.

After 25 stages, players can step into the Arena and battle against friends for high scores in daily tournaments.

Should you flock to mad Birds 2?

If only Rovio offered some sort of premium version, as they have in the past, that just lets you purchase the game outright most of these complaints would just fall away.

As far as the new edition is concerned, it seems this game is as addictive as it can get, with excellent graphics, multi-stage levels, great details and a very engaging script. Rovio have thrown every money-grabbing trick they know at raging Birds 2 and the end result is uncomfortably like being mugged by an ungrateful tramp, even after you’ve happily handed over a few money at his initial request.

Apple users are likely to be extremely pleased with the new application that provides a wonderful free-time activity that you can access wherever you are and whenever you want.

In short, it lives up to its billing as a numerical sequel.
