IOS Devices Get Dolby Digital Plus Support In iOS 9.3

The new iPhone SE that Apple announced today is running iOS 9.3 out of the box, but if you’ve already got an iPhone, odds are good that you can get iOS 9.3 today rather than waiting until the iPhone SE comes out on March 31.

When Apple made iOS 9.3 available to download on Monday, little did some iPad 2 owners know that it would brick their devices.

If you’re not interested in changing your display’s temperature, thankfully you can easily turn Night Shift off by selecting Blue Light Reduction and adjusting how orange or blue the screen is using the inbuilt slider.

Apple has also updated its News, Health, Notes and Carplay apps, to make them more customisable and personalised to the user. CarPlay’s Apple Music now has recommendations from experts and more based your preferences.

A new feature in iOS 9.3 is the ability to lock individual notes in the Notes app, providing an additional and separate layer of protection for a user’s sensitive data. We’re just now getting our hands on iOS 9.3 so it’s a bit too early to tell.

The iOS 9.3 is compatible with products like iPhone 4S or later, iPad 2 or later, iPad mini or later, iPad Pro and 5th generation iPod touch or later. You’ll see a new icon labeled “Lock Note”, tap it and the note will now have a lock. Also in Apple Maps, a new Nearby feature has been added that will show you points of interest like gas stations, restaurants, coffee shops and more. The will also now include data from the Apple Watch and Activity app.

Note that the password you choose for your notes does not need to be the same as your iOS or Apple ID password, and in fact should be different from your other passwords for the best security. In addition, the update adds a landscape mode on iPhones and will let videos play directly in the feed, rather than having to click out to a website.

Some of the other changes include new 3D Touch quick menus for Weather, Settings, App Store, iTunes and Compass, and security fixes for media sharing in iMessage app.

The headline feature of 9.3 is called Night Shift, which is meant to help people get to sleep after using their tablets before bed by softening the screen’s brightness and contrast by subtle degrees.

The app has also been optimised to refresh much faster.
