Iowa GOP senator suspends party membership to protest Trump

Republican Sen. Mark Kirk of IL, one of the most endangered incumbents, reversed course and announced that he couldn’t support Trump, calling his comments “un-American” and raising questions about the businessman overseeing the nation’s nuclear weapons as commander in chief. He said the Indiana- born judge “happens to be, we believe, Mexican”. If a white male judge’s affiliations and friendships were primarily white men, would it be fair to call into question his impartiality in cases involving women and minorities?

The president’s nine-page disclosure filed before his 2012 re-election was erroneously included as an exhibit to a motion Trump filed in April asking U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel for the Southern District of California to toss the case before trial, according to a person familiar with the case.

“This is just one example of Trump’s statement’s complete lack of credibility”, Forge said. “All judges should be held to that standard”, the presumptive nominee said.

“Recent polls show I am beating Hillary Clinton, with all her mistakes and she has made many mistakes, I expect our lead to continue to grow and grow substantially”, Trump said.

Earlier Tuesday, House Speaker Paul Ryan argued that Trump’s comments amounted to “the textbook definition of a racist comment”.

Ron Weiser, one of the recently named top fundraisers for Trump and the Republican Party, said the nominee’s comments on the judge are “obviously making it more difficult” to raise money. Trump said that because he wants to build a wall between the US and Mexico, Curiel can not be fair in the trial.

“But do I believe Hillary Clinton is the answer?”

Mica Mosbacher, a Texas and NY fundraiser who backed Trump as soon as her preferred candidate Ted Cruz left the race, said her email has been “blowing up over the past few days” with notes from Republicans concerned about Trump’s comments.

Before Trump had solidified his place as the presumptive nominee, Kirk told CNN that he would “certainly” back Trump if he were the party’s nominee and even said running alongside Trump on the ticket might be beneficial to his race.

Trump said in a statement Tuesday that his comments had been “misconstrued” by the media.

Trump himself has said little about what he would do with poverty programs, and has not highlighted the issue as one of his major policy concerns. Soon after, a GOP senator who had previously indicated support for Trump withdrew his backing.

Other Capitol Hill Republicans joined Ryan in heaping denunciations on Trump, yet in some cases continuing to back the billionaire in an awkward, arm’s-length embrace.

Ryan, who endorsed Trump last week after initial misgivings, said he still supported his candidacy, saying Trump would be preferable to Clinton. She admitted as much to Traister, saying, “I am not a natural politician, in case you haven’t noticed, like my husband or President Obama”.

Former student Bob Giullo, who has been critical of Trump University in numerous interviews and negative advertisements from my political opponents, also expressed his satisfaction, rating Trump University’s programs “excellent” in every category.
