Iowa GOP stumps for Trump; Wisconsin GOP not so much
Who would have thought that he would win his party’s nomination, defeating 16 professional politicians in the process?

When retired four-star Marine General John Allen criticized Trump about this at the Democratic National Convention, Trump dismissed those comments by calling Allen “a failed general”.
In another Friday morning interview, Ryan told WTMJ’s Charlie Sykes that “I see no objective in doing this tit-for-tat, petty back and forth with Donald Trump, because it serves no good goal in my mind”.
Trump also has major problems with his own party. He flashed two thumbs up and a smile as he made the formal endorsement.
Vos said “we are Ryan Republicans here in Wisconsin, not Trump Republicans”.
Following the rally in Des Moines, Trump left for another stop in Wisconsin, where it has been reported that many Republicans, such as Speaker of the House Paul Ryan and former presidential candidate and Gov. Scott Walker, said they would not be attending. It’s interesting that he reached for that term instead of “nationalist”, which could also fairly describe Nehlen’s politics just as it accurately describes Trump’s.
At first, Pence was noncommittal when asked whether or not he would endorse the two Senators for re-election on August 4, telling reporters while on a plane: “I look forward to supporting Republican candidates in the days and weeks ahead all over the country, and so does Donald Trump”.
Trump, who did not receive any clear endorsements from senior party figures – with the exception of former NY mayor Rudy Giuliani and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie – was as divisive and populist as ever in his acceptance speech.
“Wait, you’re the one who said you’d support him”, the narrator in the DCCC ad says. And is Trump seriously suggesting that George W. Bush was a better president than Barack Obama even though Bush misled this country into two seemingly endless wars, watched thousands of Americans die and was at the helm when the American economy nearly evaporated?
Her running mate, Virginia Senator Tim Kaine – an excellent choice – also spoke very well.
Trump also said he would not endorse Sen. “He’ll dominate the news for the next three months, each day more painful than the last, finally lose, say it was rigged and get a new [television] show”.
The tension between the Republican heavyweights complicates Trump’s push to compete in Wisconsin, a state that hasn’t voted for a Republican presidential candidate since 1984. But a source close to Ryan’s campaign said those endorsements do not phase him as Ryan “actually has the support of Wisconsinites” – a sentiment echoed by Ryan’s spokesman. “I understand and embrace the wisdom of Ronald Reagan’s big tent within the party”.
“So if Donald Trump is the president, I’ll stand up to him, plain and simple”.
“I want Trump to feel the blame for his loss, not put it on the doorstep of ‘the Establishment, ‘” an Iowa Republican declared.
“I’ve been very successful in my life”. Clinton needs to directly address these concerns.
“While there is a challenging issue with disparities which is evident here in Minnesota, I think the overwhelming picture shows that there is tremendous positive coming from this community”, he said.

Around mid-week, the Trump campaign’s apparent inability to control the Donald came to a fore.
