Iowa Poll: Clinton maintains lead over Sanders

Ruth Guerra, the director of Hispanic media for the Republican National Committee, characterized Clinton’s gesture as disingenuous. Clinton didn’t rule out bypassing Congress to close the prison on Cuba. “They cut taxes on the wealthy, got out of the way of corporations, took their eyes off the financial market and the mortgage market and you know what happens next”.

Clinton says on Facebook that the people “at the heart of this issue are children, parents, families”.

Asked about her reaction to the perennial push by western states to claim ownership of more of the lands how owned by the federal government (Nevada is 86 percent federally owned), she came down clearly against what she described as “a long and contentious effort” to claim those lands from the federal government. Sanders’ support has edged up from 40 to 42 percent while former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley’s support remained unchanged at 4 percent.

The crowd at the Boulder Theater buzzed and erupted in a cacophony of “I believe that she will win” and “HRC fight for us” chants at yesterday’s “Organizing Meeting with Hillary Clinton”.

The candidate did touch on education as well, touting her plan to reduce student debt and provide free tuition to those attending a four-year public university or community college. “I think pharmacists can play a role in that, but I also think that over-the-counter is entirely appropriate”, she said.

She said later at a rally at a Reno middle school that “these terrorists are killers, they’re thugs, they’re criminals”.

And while she did not mention chief rival Bernie Sanders, but did encourage the crowd to attend the state’s upcoming caucus in just three months.

Clinton has said she supports 12 weeks of paid family leave, but supports a different way to pay for it, her campaign said.

Beyond the personal income, Clinton also has close political ties to the finance industry.

Earlier in the day, Clinton met with Mayor Hillary Scheive and toured Crossroads, a substance abuse center run by Washoe County and the Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada. One woman wrote in Spanish that she hoped Clinton would defend the undocumented population because Trump “treats immigrants like second-class citizens”.

The next democratic debate will take place in Manchester, New Hampshire on December 19, 2015 hosted by ABC News/WMUR-TV. She says “costs won’t be a barrier”.

Those proposals aren’t worrying her backers on Wall Street, who argue that her time representing NY gives Clinton a deep understanding of how their industry works. Clinton was a strong proponent of the war in Iraq; whereas Sanders was not.
