Iowa poll: Cruz, Trump still neck-and-neck

With the Iowa caucus less than a week away, the GOP primary continues to be a dead heat between Donald Trump and Sen.

When asked, “regardless of who you support, which candidate do you think is most likely to win the Republican nomination”, 64 percent of GOP voters and voters “leaning” Republican across America named Trump, according the ABC/Washington Post poll.

“Two Corinthians 3:17, that’s the whole ballgame”, Trump said to soft laughter.

Ted Cruz has already shown that he cares very little for the majority of Americans when he shut down our government.

Donald Trump is riding high in New Hampshire, but he’s not about to pull any punches against Ted Cruz just two weeks out from the primary.

“The polls have me winning now, but who knows about polls, I mean the only poll is the poll that takes place on February 1, so we’ll see what happens”, he said.

Religious voters are a major factor in the Iowa caucuses, the opening event in the presidential nominating calendar, and Trump has been working hard to reach them. Without singling out any candidate or party, she said politicians should be “under some level of scrutiny for what they say”.

The Quinnipiac survey is little changed from its January 11 results and conforms with other recent polls showing Trump holding a narrow lead in the final days of the campaign after trailing Cruz for months. Bush was tied with Trump with 24 percent, followed by Kasich with 15 percent and Christie with 14 percent. So even if you’re thinking about another candidate, the simple reality is there’s only one campaign that can beat Trump in this state, and if conservatives simply stand up and unite, that’s everything.

That poll also found, significantly, that 64% of Republican voters view Trump as the most likely Republican nominee at this point.

At one point, as church-goers offered each other wishes of peace, Trump received warm greetings from those around him.

Clinton and Bernie Sanders, locked in an unexpectedly tight race, planned to deliver their final-stretch pitches Monday evening in a televised town hall forum. This week, 57% of women voters support Clinton, and only 31% of women voters support Sanders.

“The Iowa Republican caucus remains too close to call”, said Peter Brown, the poll’s assistant director. “And I think we have a good chance”.
