We were impressed with what Apple had to offer when they brought out the Apple iPad Pro and while we do agree that the Apple iPad Pro is one impressive piece of tablet, it is far from being a real Microsoft Surface Pro 4 rival.
Microsoft is making room for Apple Mac users in its Office 365 testing program, announced Kirk Koenigsbauer, corporate vice president of the software maker’s Office 365 group. Inspiration can hit you anywhere, and being able to jot down handwritten ideas using a program that everyone is familiar with is awesome.
If you own an Apple Pencil, there’s an entirely new “Draw” tab in the Office Ribbon, which gives you more control while drawing over documents. The same opt-in box can be deselected to stop the Insider builds, though the switch to regular builds will not happen until the next update of Office is released.
Instant Inking: Microsoft has evolved their apps like Excel to sense the approach of an active pencil so that you could start to ink instantly without needing to select a feature or control.
Mac users will also be eligible to join the Office Insider program, where they can beta-test new Office features before they’re released to the general public.
Microsoft is also extending the PowerPoint Designer and Morph features to additional platforms. A Convert to Shapes feature automatically transforms hand-sketched shapes such as circles into flawless versions.
A Microsoft employee wrote on the support forum to respond to a query by saying: “We’re just laying the groundwork for the Mac Office Insider program and getting people signed up”. And when you become an Office Insider, you are joining a community of like-minded power users.
