According to Yibada, the iPad Pro 2 is likely to be released in the later part of 2016, possibly being launched along with the iPhone 7 and Apple Watch 2 this month.

With the new implemented base storage option, Apple is giving its consumers more leeway for the content of their devices at a lower cost. The company also quietly upgraded the storage options on iPad. Therefore the choice is now between what screen sizes you want as all other factors are the same.
The initial rumors pointed to a 10.5-inch display for the iPad Pro and 12.9 inch iPad Pro 2, as well as the smaller 9.7-inch iPad; although it must be said that this information was also shared by respected research note analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo.
Being the geared as the center of multimedia activities and consumption in the entire Apple lineup, it is only logical for the iPad to undergo such change.
Apple Watch Series 1 is now in line with most of the Android Wear Watches because of its price and this is what makes it a must buy. Like the iPhone 7 that lose its traditional 3.5 mm headphone jack, the iPad Pro 2 may also follow the wireless headphone trend. The cost of the 32GB variants will then inherit the cost of the purged model, cutting down their cost.
Apple’s move essentially removes all 16GB iPad models now being sold, making 32GB the base standard. While the iPad mini didn’t receive new storage capacities, the second- and fourth-generation models are still available on apple.com. Originally, the 128GB iPad mini 4 was sold for $599. Additionally, the move requires the retailers to undercut the prices of the affected devices, essentially upgrading the device models a notch higher in the storage variations. These are the brand new 10.5-inch iPad Pro, a smaller 9.7-inch version, and finally, the much-anticipated 12.9-inch iPad Pro 2.

The bigger and faster iPad Pro 2 12.9 inch and 10.5 inch are expected to target and appeal more to the industries, business-related and education sectors. The 9.7-inch 256GB Wi-Fi only model will now cost $799 [originally $899]. Both Wi-Fi and Cellular variants are affected, regardless of the color.
