IPad Pro has USB 3.0 connector

A Lightning-to-USB 3.0 adapter doesn’t exist yet, so we’re left waiting until Apple releases that particular accessory to access the faster transfer speeds. Previously, the iPhone manufacturer did not showcase this feature publicly, but according to Ars Technica, Apple has confirmed that the iPad Pro features ultra-fast data transfer speeds via USB 3.0-capable Lightening port.

USB 3.0 compatible Lightning interface is critical for the iPad Pro as the Lightning interface in all current-generation iPhones and iPads are USB 2.0 compatible.

Early users of the new Apple iPad Pro have reported that the giant tablet has a USB 3.0-compatible Lightning connector, a fact that Apple has strangely kept relatively quiet about.

USB 3.0 can also supply more power to devices as well, which has me wondering if the iPad Pro will support additional accessories.

So it is not clear how users can take advantage of a feature whose medium is yet not identified.

The jump is notable because previous iPads have relied on the older USB 2.0 standard, which has a theoretical maximum throughput of 480Mbps (or about 60MB per second).

The inclusion of USB 3.0 compatible Lightning port in the iPad Pro is cheerful news for many iDevice owners as it will allow faster data transfer. Now, the iPad Pro will support up to 5Gbps transfer speeds. Indeed, CNET’s review mentioned the USB 3.0 support in passing as well. For lesser sized files, Apple has adopted ways to transfer files via iTunes Wi-Fi syncing and AirDrop.

Apple may finally build a USB 3.0-friendly controller into the next-generation A10 SoC. But, the team Apple has not disclosed that when this new USB is materializing into reality. Will Apple provide a solution for the cable soon?
