IPhone 6 And 6 Plus May Feature A Design Flaw
Experts say claim that if you’re an iPhone 6 Plus owner you’re nearly certain to experience touchscreen woes.

A handful of users of the Apple iPhone 6 and 6 Plus are reporting manifestation of display aberrations and inconsistent touch functionality – and a screen replacement doesn’t fix the problem. The report adds that putting a bit of pressure on the display solves the issue, but only for a short time.
This issue is widespread enough that I feel like nearly every iPhone 6/6+ has a touch of it (no pun intended) and are like ticking bombs just waiting to act up. In the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus, the touchscreen controllers are moved from the logic board to the display assembly, which does not cause the problem.
This flickering bar appears at the top of an iPhone’s touchscreen and eventually leads to the handset not registering any presses or swipes. “Later you might notice that the screen is sometimes unresponsive, but it is quick to come back with a hard reset”, microsoldering specialist Jessa Jones explains.
While the report notes that the two Touch IC chips could simply be defective, iFixit postulates that this may actually be a symptom of flexing of the iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus causing the solder connections between the chips and the logic boards to break down.
The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus have certainly had their fair share of problems, such as some units bending, and also with the iSight camera for the latter model. It’s certainly bad timing, because if this is truly an issue, then you could see your iPhone 6 and 6 Plus trade-in value affected for those hoping to upgrade to the iPhone 7 next month. Additionally, previous iPhones have had a rigid, metal EMI shield covering the chips, but that was replaced with a pliable sticker shield for the iPhone 6.

IFixit is referring to the problem as “Touch Disease” and while the website has reported that Apple appears to be aware of the issue based on dozens of complaints on Apple’s support forum, the company hasn’t made a move that would make you feel that it’s going to cater to these problems and the consumers now in possession of the devices.
