IPhone 6c said to launch in Q2 2016

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is reportedly planning on launching a new variant for its low-cost iPhone variant, the iPhone 5c. Some argued that Apple had canceled the smallest model in its iPhone 6s family – thus far referred to as the iPhone 6c – while others said the phone might still be on track for release at a later point.

Citing sources from the semiconductor industry, Digitimes (via AppleInsider) reported on Tuesday that Apple will unveil a new budget iPhone equipped with 14/16nm FinFET chips during the second quarter of 2016.

You may want to take this latest rumor with a pinch of salt. The website’s sources from inside the seminconductor business additionally level to the so-called iPhone 6c lineup arriving with new 14/16nm FinFET chips from TSMC and Samsung, which might convey higher efficiency and decrease energy consumption to the brand new line of cheaper iPhones.

As per DigiTimes, it was previously rumored that Apple would be using the 20 nanometer process for the next 5c, but it was later found out that the 14/16 nanometer FinFET processors would make it possible for the phone to perform better without any complications.

Earlier this year, rumors claimed that Apple would have three new iPhone versions in stores in 2015, but subsequent reports disputed those claims. Or maybe we’re going to see more devices/products launch, nobody knows for sure at this point. Both handsets are expected to be released during the month of September and will provide a nice bit of competition for Samsung’s Galaxy S6 Edge Plus and Galaxy Note 5.
