IPhone 7 256GB model likely, say sources

Apple is rumored to ditch the 16GB storage tier and replace it with 32GB, and some reports even claim that Apple will have 256GB iPhone 7 versions in stores, which should address all your storage needs. This might be good news for iPhone owners looking to upgrade to the iPhone 7 this year, but Android fans expecting to see a similar bump in built-in storage might have to wait since Apple is gobbling up all the supply. Prices will keep soaring until the fourth quarter of 2016.

Apple is a major influencer on the pricing of NAND memory because its iPhones are using the technology for internal storage. It is not clear yet how much percentage of the NAND memory supply Apple gobbling up for its upcoming handsets.

DigiTimes has the scoop concerning a 256GB iPhone 7, and explains in a recently published story that NAND flash vendors are raising quotes on orders amid tight supply.

We are talking about Apple’s second-generation 10nm chips developed by TSMC, as its first-generation 10nm chips will be integrated into Apple’s tenth-gen iPhone units arriving next month – which many have referred to as “iPhone 7”.

The iPhone 7 will be a very interesting device, no matter what you hear about it being boring.

As for the 256GB model, GSM Arena says it is still not clear if this storage variant would only be applicable to the larger iPhone 7 Plus, or if it is going to be present in both the smaller iPhone 7 model and the Plus variant.
