IPhone 7: Apple admits there’s a problem with Earpods; promises fix

User reports recently started piling up regarding a glitch in the Lightning EarPods bundled with the iPhone 7, causing the multifunction remote control to stop functioning all of a sudden.

There is no headphone jack in the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus; hence, Apple shipped the phones with a set of EarPods and a Lightning connector.

Users are reporting that though their audio continues to play, they find themselves unable to change the volume, access Siri, or answer phone calls.

Apple said it will fix the problem in a future software update, but it did not say anything about when it plans to release the update that will fix the issue. For the time being, Apple said, unplugging and replugging the Earpods could be a temporary fix. The signal also gets worse for 16-bit music files, even if they aren’t that drastic: the dynamic range worsens by 1.8 dB (A) and 3.1 dB (A) for the iPhone and iPad, respectively. That means if you are making use of the Lightning port for your headphones, you can’t charge the phone at the same time. This runs the latest-generation A10 Fusion chip, a 12-megapixel camera, iOS 10, and the new force-sensitive, home-button mechanism.

Added to that, the iPhone 6S is cheaper than ever and also comes with added memory, so if you’re after a new iPhone, does it make more sense to save money and buy it instead? The company has confirmed that the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, the latest models to be launched, will reach India by 7 October. Well, it’s because YouTube user TechRax already has headphone jack truthers out here believing all it takes to bring back the headphone jack is a drill and some will. The hissing sound was emanating from the area where the Apple logo is located on the rear panel.

While Apple doesn’t mention it specifically, we assume it’ll fix the issue with the adapter as well.
