IPhone 7: Apple’s new phones drop headphone jack

For actual, optical zoom, one lens handles 1x zoom; the other handles 2x, the report added. iPhone 7 Plus now has 10x zoom. The screen on the iPhone will be 25% brighter, having a wide color gamut, better color management and enhanced 3D Touch. The phones use an f/1.8 aperture lens to capture more light. The front camera gets a boost to 7MP and includes the image same stabilisation as the front.

Apple actually managed to leak the new iPhones before the event started, taking away from the surprise a bit.

For the less sports-inclined, there’s also new ceramic Apple Watch (starting at an eye-watering RM5699) and a Series 2 upgrade for its Hermes tie-in. In fact, sports and health are apparently two big focuses for the new device.

However, the wearables’ sales could climb now that Nintendo’s mega-hit game “Pokemon Go” will be playable on Apple Watch. “Consumers underestimate the engineering feats that the iPhone 7 brings, like the audio, camera, processing power, etc.in such a small package”, she said in a statement. Most existing headphones won’t plug into the iPhone’s charging port without an adapter. But many watching the Apple launch event still expressed frustration – some using the hashtag #courage. As people store more photos and video on their phones, Apple is taking a cue from rival phone makers and offering its starter model with 32 gigabytes of storage. The Nike+ watch will cost $369 and is due out in late October.

These are all welcome additions to world’s most popular smartphone but there’s some other extras that are sure to pop a huge smile on the faces of the Apple faithful.

Originally positioned as a fashion accessory, Apple is marketing the new Apple Watch as exercise equipment.

The new phone will start shipping in major markets, including the United States and China, on September 16. But what Apple really wants you to do is buy its new $159 product: AirPods – wireless headphones that look like the buds of the regular Apple headphones but cordless – for an “effortless and magical listening experience”, as Cook put it.

Existing watches can get new operating software on September 13. It’s something Google and Microsoft already offer in some form. Although Apple’s iWork package allows syncing through iCloud, it’s has been primarily for one person to work on documents at a time.
