“Beginning Friday, limited quantities of iPhone 7 in silver, gold, rose gold and black will be available for walk-in customers at Apple retail stores”. Of course, you can pre-book it online. On Apple’s website, currently, the wait time is 2-3 weeks.

The demand for the new phones seem to be strong, but in a break from their tradition, Engadget noted that the company will no longer report the volumes of the new phones that they sell over the first pre-order weekend, justifying that pre-order numbers are “no longer a representative metric” and that they knew the new models will sell out anyway. In fact, testers inside Apple, and reviewers reportedly received only Black iPhone 7 Plus. Interested employees are reportedly leaving no stones unturned to pocket the Jet Black variant of iPhone 7 Plus!

The 5.5-inch iPhone model, known as the Plus, has sold out soon after launch since Apple introduced the size with the iPhone 6 in 2014.

Either way, a couple of things are clear: Apple fans are mightily impressed by the imaging capabilities of the iPhone 7 Plus as well as the new Jet Black colour scheme.

We couldn’t be happier with the initial response to iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, and we are looking forward to beginning sales through our retail stores and partners around the world.

As with all drop tests, we don’t recommend you try this at home and while we’ll let you make your mind up on just how durable the new iPhones are, we will say this; it’s quite surprising that they’ve manage to survive such impacts and Apple certainly deserves credit for creating smartphones capable of doing so.

Apple spokeswoman Trudy Muller stated “We sincerely appreciate the patience of our customers as we work hard to get our new iPhone into the hands of everyone as quickly as possible”. In the USA and in the United Kingdom, the wait time is as long as two to three weeks, and those who are waiting for the Jet Black variant will have to wait up to five weeks as the model will have to go through a “nine-step anodization and polishing process”.
