IPhone 7 Pre-Orders Boosts Apple
The phones are set to hit the market September 16.

T-Mobile said the iPhone 7 set a single-day sales record, and Sprint said that iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus preorders were up more than 375 percent from a year ago. Sprint today reported similar figures. T-Mobile U.S. Inc. said that preorders for Apple’s iPhone 7 reach a record in the wireless carrier’s history.
In terms of phone storage preference, 74 percent of the pre-orders were for 128 GB models, 18 percent for 32 GB models, and 8 percent for the 256 GB models, according to Data Express.
So you’ll probably end up going wireless, which works out just fine for Apple – which bought Beats headphones a few years back in a megadeal that hasn’t quite worked out for them yet.
“We’re gonna be moving things out as fast as we can”, Legere said in his Periscope live stream. “I think it’s a phenomenon”.
In particular, pre-orders for the latest iPhone at T-Mobile were up almost four times compared to T-Mobile’s next most popular iPhone, the “iPhone 6”, which was released two years ago. The iPhone SE quickly became the third top-selling smartphone in the United States for the second quarter of this year. “It’s clear that Sprint customers want to get the most out of the incredible iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus and know there’s no better place for this than Sprint”, Marcelo Claure, Sprint’s CEO, said in a statement.
While pre-registrations have begun, it appears that the “Jet Black” variant, which is only available with 128GB and 256GB variants, is in a pretty good demand.
The iPhone 7 has longer battery life, more memory, water resistance and a dual camera system, but the exterior looks basically the same, Mossberg noted. Instead, customers will be advised to order their iPhone 7 online.
The maneuver will reportedly see the Korean tech giant replace the standard 3.5mm jack with a new proprietary port that the company can potentially license to a number of Android manufacturers. The company introduced the “iPhone 6S” and “iPhone 6S Plus” in September.

Ars Technica: “The iPhone 7 usually outperforms the iPhone 6S by 30 or 40 percent, so that 27 percent clock speed jump is responsible for most but not all of those gains”.
