IPhone 8 said to sport iris scanner

Apple plans to release a special anniversary iPhone smartphone this year, one that would come with significant improvements to the previous iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Apparently all of the smartphones, the iPhone 8, iPhone 7S and iPhone 7S Plus will feature wireless charging.

As for the name, it’ll probably be called the iPhone 8, but some say Apple might break tradition and call it “iPhone X”.

The 10th-anniversary iPhone is rumored to be packed with innovative design and wonderful features including an OLED screen, an edge-to-edge display, and a long-distance wireless charging.

Multiple reports suggest that the next iPhone 8 will be a massive upgrade in terms of design and technology. The 7S variants are not likely to have an OLED display.

This news came according to a new forecast by KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

DigiTimes previously cited a Chinese website that said 2017 iPhones will include iris scanning capabilities, but today’s report is based on its own sources.

Apple’s iPhone 8 release is believed to be a powerful device with improved features. The iPhone 8 will reportedly ship with a 5.8-inch OLED display. The incorporation of such a dominant component should mean that the next iPhone 8 will be more advanced than its predecessor variants in every way imaginable. To overcome the situation, he suggested that Apple is needed to insulate its Touch ID by using an additional graphite sheet for lamination.

But the upcoming range of iPhone is already said to feature OLED panels from Samsung Display, which the Apple has ordered in sufficient amount. So putting a 3D Touch module inside the device does make sense.

An Iris scanner would certainly make the iPhone 8 compete against the Galaxy S8, also expected to arrive in a few months with an Iris scanner. “Firstly that Apple appears to be going all out to bring the Wow Factor back to the iPhone range after sticking with essentially the same external design for three generations”, according to Forbes’ Gordon Kelly.

The iPhone 8 will likely have wireless charging — but that could make it prone to overheating
