IPhone Forever: Sprint Customers Can Upgrade Phones for $22 a Month

The iPhone Forever promo is available to any eligible Sprint rate plan, and the upgrade eligibility is always included in the customer’s price. Sprint revealed that 51 percent of customers chose the leasing option last quarter, WSJ reports.

Sprint (NYSE:S) on Monday announced its new iPhone “Forever ” upgrade plan, which provides upgrades at any time, as opposed to an earlier “iPhone for Life” plan that provided upgrade options every two years. “They bring their iPhone, upgrade on the spot, and away they go”, the press release stated. In the past, when you signed a new contract, you’d get a phone for a much lower price (sometimes free).

One of the announcements Claure hinted at will explain what Sprint plans to do with all those second-hand iPhones it expects customers to trade in as part of its new iPhone for Life program. The same offer stands for existing Sprint customers who are eligible for an upgrade as well. The customers will be allowed to upgrade the latest iPhone. And, once you have the iPhone 6, if you want to swap it before the end of the year – which you may, because there will nearly certainly be a new iPhone out before the year is out – you can keep that promotional rate.

(Image: RootMetrics) RootMetrics just posted it’s first half of 2015 mobile network performance results and T-Mobile CEO John Legere ranted on Twitter to dismiss the findings. (T-Mobile has a similar plan for $95 a month.).

The only major nationwide carrier that hasn’t said it will eliminate contracts is AT&T. That’s a marked improvement over its present rental present, which just allows clients update to some new iPhone every 2 yrs.

The iPhone Forever plan, which will cost $22 per month after January 1, 2016, comes with an introductory rate of $15 for a 16-Gb iPhone 6, with a trade-in for the consumer’s old phone.

Sprint Corp. said it’s getting rid of two- year certainly will change completely to some design where clients rent their smartphones and agreements.

According to Sprint, customers who will upgrade their iPhone after December 31, their monthly lease rate returns will be $22 per month, the current lease pricing.

Softbank has increased its ownership of Sprint to nearly 80% because it is optimistic on the U.S. mobile operator’s future, it announced late last week.
