The lawyers- Ifeanyi Ejiofor and Amoebi Nzelu had said Nnamdi Kanu was ready to negotiate terms of his release with the Federal Government.

They were arraigned in January of this year on a six-count charge of treasonable felony, running an unlawful organisation, plotting to level war against the country, illegal possession of firearms and unlawful importation of a transmitter to run their illegal radio station – Radio Biafra.

“Therefore the general public should not be perturbed because our march towards the quest for the restoration of God’s nation Biafra is intact under the divine direction of our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu”.

Kanu spoke through his lawyers, Ifeanyi Ejiofor and Amobi Nzelu, at a press briefing in Abuja on Friday.

“Mend has no implied, direct or express authority of Nnamdi Kanu to represent him or IPOB in any purported negotiation going on between mend and the federal government”, the lawyers stated.

The same way the British government of David Cameron allowed the Scottish nation to freely choose if they want to be part of the United Kingdom or not and most recently Brexit that culminated in the removal of Britain from the EU.

“The government should also extend this gesture to Kanu, who has been in detention for awhile”.

On the claims that MEND was negotiating on behalf of Kanu and IPOB, the lawyer said: “Nnamdi Kanu has no connection, contact, ties or any kind of relationship with members of the MEND”. The general public is accordingly advised to ignore, discountenance and disregard the falsehood being peddled by MEND.

Buhari’s government underestimated the strength of IPOB and the appeal of Nnamdi Kanu’s message which continues to gain ground on a daily basis around the whole world.

Mr. Ejiofor said the decision of Mr. Tsoho to vary an earlier ruling of his (Tsoho) court by yielding to the request of the prosecution for the protection of witnesses in the ongoing trial of Mr. Kanu was further confirmation that the court under his (Tsoho) leadership would not grant justice to his client.
