Iran arrests nuclear negotiator for espionage
“Legal action has been instigated against him and he has been released on bail”, the official IRNA news agency quoted Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejeie as saying at his weekly press conference. He was released on bail.

No details have been given about the arrest and it remains unclear on whether it is the same case as the one reported on Wednesday by semi-official Iranian news agency Tabnak.
His remarks came after an Iranian lawmaker last week said a person close to the nuclear negotiating team had been arrested on charges of espionage.
Iran, the United States and five other world powers reached a landmark deal past year, under which Iran agreed to limit its nuclear program in such a way as to ensure it can not develop nuclear weapons in exchange for a lifting of the economic sanctions.
An Iranian nuclear scientist, Shahram Amiri, was executed earlier this month after being convicted of spying for Washington.
On Monday, Iran’s Foreign Ministry denied the report and said none of the members of its nuclear negotiation team was detained.
Tehran’s prosecutor general on August 16 announced the arrest of a dual national he said was linked to British intelligence, but made no mention of the person being in the nuclear negotiations team.
Last month, a secret document obtained by AP showed that an add-on agreement to the nuclear deal signed by Iran and six world powers in July previous year would, after a decade, allow Iran to upgrade parts of its nuclear program.
Iranian media outlets have reported that a dual national identified as Abdolrasoul Dorri Esfahani, a senior accountant involved in banking-related aspects of the nuclear talks, has been arrested for espionage.

News about Amiri, born in 1977, has been scant since his return to Iran. But he returned to Iran in 2010 and received a hero’s welcome before being arrested.
