The missile tests, described by Iran’s powerful Revolutionary Guards as a show of force in the face of USA pressure, come just weeks after the implementation of Iran’s historic nuclear deal with world powers.

Iran test-fired two ballistic missiles earlier on Wednesday that it said were created to be able to hit Israel, in defiance of us criticism of similar tests carried out Tuesday. A journalist based out of Tehran said, according to Al Jazeera, that the missile tests were “to show Iran’s deterrent power and also the Islamic Republic’s ability to confront any threat against the (Islamic) Revolution, the state and the sovereignty of the country”.

Also on Thursday, an informed source at Iran’s Foreign Ministry dismissed reports that US Secretary of State John Kerry had phoned Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif to discuss the tests. But the reported tests were seen has highly provocative by the West and its allies, and brought calls for further USA sanctions.

Iranian officials have said they only provide political support to the Houthis, not military assistance. Israel, which is believed to have the only nuclear arsenal in the Mideast, repeatedly has threatened to take military action against Iran’s nuclear facilities.

The Fars news agency reported the Hebrew inscription on the missiles.

“Iran’s missile programme will not stop under any circumstances”, Hajizadeh said. “Israel is surrounded by Islamic countries and it will not last long in a war”. The media outlet says it has photos of the missiles that include the anti-Semitic and threatening message: “Israel must be wiped out”.

Jaberi-Ansari said none of Iran’s missiles are created to carry nuclear warheads and thus, their production and test “are not in contravention of Resolution 2231 and its appendices”. In response, Biden warned that the United States leaves open all options to take action against Iran for “conventional activity” outside the range of their landmark nuclear deal.

“It will collapse even before being hit by these missiles”. There was no immediate comment from the foreign ministry of Iran.

The Iran fires of missile are only a new link in a series of test fires during the recent days.

Most folks with any common sense – and that would eliminate much of official Washington, especially the State Department – have known all along the Iran nuclear deal wasn’t worth the paper it was printed on.
