Iran denies threatening USA warships by rocket shooting
A statement early Wednesday from Cmdr.

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hossein Jaber Ansari said here on Thursday that his countyr will respond to any new us sanctions and interfering measures over its defensive missile program.
The US Navy said in an email that Iran’s Revolutionary Guard test-fired rockets in close proximity to several US and French vessels, as well as commercial ships.
“The rockets were not fired at the Truman and other ships, only near them”, the network said.
“We look at this firing so close to the ships as highly provocative”, said the military official, who was not immediately authorized to be named.
The test comes after Iran and world powers led by the USA agreed to a landmark nuclear deal to limit Iran’s enrichment of uranium in exchange for lifting economic sanctions.
State-controlled Tabnak news claimed the western news reports serve to “undermine Iran’s capability to provide regional marine safety”, according to a translation by the New York Times.
Gen. Ramezan Sharif dismisses USA claims of a rocket test by Iran in the Strait of Hormuz.
In the past, Iran has threatened to block the strait, which lies at the entrance of the Arabian Gulf.
“Americans have entered the Persian Gulf with their entire military might, but Iran’s fast-patrol boats have authority over them”, an Iranian naval commander, Rear Adm. Ali Fadavi, was quoted as saying by the Islamic Student News Agency Monday.
The Strait of Hormuz is an area that’s no stranger to tense events like this.
Tensions have persisted in the strait even into this year.
The Obama administration is said to be preparing new sanctions in an attempt to cripple Iran’s ballistic missile program, following an incident in the Gulf last week in which Iran fired a missile dangerously close to a USA warship. Iran has always denied seeking nuclear arms.
“The rocket fire exercise by the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) on Saturday, December 27, over worldwide waters in the Strait of Hormuz once against shows that despite the policy of appeasement and all the undue concessions to the regime by the West, the mullahs’ regime, and in particular the IRGC, in no way intends to end its provocative actions to wreak havoc in the region”.
Iran’s weekend provocation is further proof getting a final nuclear deal is going to be a rocky road.
