Iran hardliners denounce outreach to West at anti-US rally
Iran’s supreme leader marked Wednesday’s anniversary of the 1979 takeover of the U.S. Embassy with an affirmation that the slogan “Death to America” is still meaningful. “To a few extent, it has to do with U.S.-Iran relations, but much more than that it has to do with essentially other factions telling the Rouhani government, ‘Yeah, yeah, you got the nuclear deal, but that doesn’t mean you have a win.’ They really are trying to discredit the government”.

Khamenei also argued that the controversial slogan inspires “strong support” among Iranians because of America’s policies toward their country.
“A day will come when they will have to answer in court for their atrocities”, he said.
While the USA and Iran might never be close friends, the two nations can at least share a playground thanks to President Barack Obama’s Iran nuclear deal, according to an expert on Iranian-American relations. “And they would not spare a moment if they could destroy the Islamic Republic; but they can’t”.
Khamenei reiterated his warning that the U.S.is not to be trusted despite the nuclear deal reached with the US, Britain, France, Russia, China and Germany. “But…the policies of the United States have been against the national interests of Iranian people, [so] it’s understandable that people will demonstrate sensitivity to this issue”. Abbas Pazooki, the restaurant’s manager, said he hoped to reopen soon and claimed his eatery, “KFC Halal”, had nothing to do with the US brand.
Even facsimiles of American culture are targeted, as demonstrators Wednesday carried signs that said no to US fast-food chains like McDonald’s or Starbucks setting up franchises in the country. “Obviously by “Death to America”, we don’t mean death to the American people”.
“The term “infiltration” must not be bandied about”, Rouhani told ministers.
Araqchi said on November 2 that the process of removing the centrifuges may start in the coming days, the Iranian media reported.
The Iranian-Canadian business community is extensive, Mr. Myers noted, and “we look to them to provide leverage”, but not at the risk of being arrested.
The report, which cited informed sources, is the first official confirmation of his arrest.
Namazi is among several executives who have reportedly been held by the Guard and warned against interfering in the group’s monopolies, the Journal said.
Iran’s judiciary – believed directed by Iran’s ruling clerics – also has ordered the detention of at least four Americans, including Washington Post journalist Jason Rezaian .
His employer says he has been found guilty in an “outrageous injustice”.

Meanwhile, the Iranian authorities have arrested three pro-reform journalists, the ILNA news agency said, one of whom has been critical recently of Ayatollah Khamenei.
