Iran Nuclear Deal News: Senate Democrats Reject GOP Effort to Block Agreement
Only 162 lawmakers voted in favour of a resolution endorsing the contested agreement struck on July 14 between six world powers and Iran, while 269 voted against.

India has welcomed the deal and as a major buyer of Iranian crude oil, it will be closely monitoring the situation leading up to the lifting of sanctions and normalization of trade ties.
“The U.S. president is trying to ignore the reality that his administration’s failure in its policy of sanctions and threats against Iran forced Washington to negotiate (with Iran)”, she said.
The House on Thursday passed a resolution saying that Obama had not complied with a requirement to provide Congress with all documents related to the Iran agreement. They have sued repeatedly over President Barack Obama’s signature health care law, with some success at hamstringing implementation, and they are also challenging the president’s climate change regulations in court. It’s a day for all Americans to come together and for us to keep the oath we swore to our Constitution.
Every Republican voted against a resolution of approval aside from libertarian Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie, who voted only as “present”, the Hill reported.
And only 26 percent of USA active-duty military and government employees in national security jobs surveyed by Defense One said the deal is good for the U.S.
Following the vote, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell blasted Democrats for “protecting” the president from having to issue a veto. In fact, just days after Obama announced the deal, the California Democrat said her caucus would be able to uphold a presidential veto of GOP legislation aimed at killing the agreement, which effectively guaranteed its survival.
“Now, we must turn to the critical work of implementing and verifying this deal so that Iran can not pursue a nuclear weapon”, he saidl. They have said they may file a lawsuit against the deal. Since their nuclear program is legally branded as “peaceful”, the West, according to the terms of the agreement, must give Iran aid in developing it and must defend it against cyberattacks from Israel, which the leadership of Iran is bragging won’t be around in 25 years!
“Congress was given an opportunity to set the rules here and this was the outcome that occurred as a result of that process”, Earnest said of the Senate vote on the resolution of disapproval.

Rep. Steve Scalise, a top Republican leader in the House, continued to push Thursday to kill the Iran nuclear deal, despite Senate action that makes it nearly certain the deal will take effect.
